About Us

Welcome to the Detroit Chapter

of the VMCCA!

The Detroit Chapter VMCCA is a Metro Detroit Based Antique Auto Driving club, and a chapter of the VMCCA ( the Veteran Motor Car Club of America). Don't let the name deter you, the VMCCA is one of the oldest antique car clubs and at the time the club was formed, the term Veteran Motor Car was synonymous with the term antique car. While this term has fallen out of common usage, we are still here. We are open to owners, and fans of all makes of cars 25 years old and older, original or authentic restorations (or partial restorations). Our focus is the enjoyment and preservation of these vehicles. While slight modifications to improve safety, reliability or driveability are typically allowed and/or encouraged, we are dedicated to cars running in their original form, and tend not to be the place for Hot Rods and wild customs. Rooted in the idea that the best way to enjoy our cars is to drive them, we strive to set up tours and driving events in S.E. Michigan.

In October of 1954, 31 members of the VMCCA, Great Lakes Region, signed a petition and sent it off to the National Board of Directors asking for permission to form a Detroit chapter. In November of 1954 they received their charter and at that time attended their meetings in a room furnished by the Detroit Historical Museum. Since that time, things have obviously changed and evolved and our club has certainly grown. This past year we celebrated our 55th year!

In establishing this website, our goal is to continue to grow, expand and educate the surrounding area.  We have several outings every year as well as meetings on the third Wednesday of each month.  For information on our meeting location and time reference the Calendar of Events or email us at info@vmccadc.com.
